A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON LEARNING OF THE DEATH OF MR. ARCHIE KEESLEY OF EDGEFIELD, AND EXTENDING THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Archie E. Keesley of Edgefield, South Carolina, who died April 10, 2000; and

Whereas, a native of Greenville, Mr. Keesley retired as the owner of Carolina Sales Department Store and was formerly with the Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home; and

Whereas, he was the beloved husband of Lois Woods Keesley with whom his life was blessed with two sons, Everette Keesley and William Keesley, both of Edgefield, and a daughter Angie Welchel of Pawley's Island and three grandchildren whom he adored; and

Whereas, Mr. Keesley was a pillar of the community and a former member of the Edgefield City Council who was held in high regard as a community and business leader of Edgefield; and

Whereas, he was a loyal and devoted member of Edgefield United Methodist Church, a man committed to his beliefs and a true witness to his faith; and

Whereas, Mr. Keesley was admired and respected by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate wish to extend their sincere condolences upon learning of the death of such an honorable man and native son. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express their sorrow upon learning of the death of Mr. Archie Keesley of Edgefield and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Lois Keesley.
