A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 16-19-10, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO LOTTERIES SO AS TO AUTHORIZE A LOTTERY TO BE CONDUCTED WHICH IS INTENDED TO RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITABLE PURPOSES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 16-19-10 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 292 of 1996, is further amended by adding at the end:

"Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a person or organization which conducts a lottery, bingo, raffles, and other similar activities intended to raise money for charitable purposes may not be prosecuted under the provisions of this section."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
