TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 16-19-170 SO AS TO MAKE IT UNLAWFUL TO PUBLISH OR TRANSMIT ADVERTISING IN THIS STATE PROMOTING GAMBLING OR LOTTERIES PROHIBITED UNDER THE CONSTITUTION OR LAWS OF THIS STATE AND TO PROVIDE A PENALTY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 19, Title 16 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 16-19-170. It is unlawful to publish in this State by print, sign, or electronic medium an advertisement promoting any form of gambling or lottery held in another state or jurisdiction if the gambling or lottery promoted is prohibited under the constitution or laws of this State. A person violating the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be punished by a fine of not more than five thousand dollars."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
