A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING H. BLAKE GIBBONS, JR., OF OLANTA ON BEING NAMED 1998 PRESIDENT OF THE INDEPENDENT BANKS OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, H. Blake Gibbons, Jr., is president and chief operating officer of The Citizens Bank and Citizens Bancshares Corporation in Olanta; and

Whereas, he was named 1998 president of The Independent Banks of South Carolina at that group's convention held in Asheville, North Carolina; and

Whereas, The Independent Banks of South Carolina, an association of sixty-eight locally-owned and operated banks in the Palmetto State, promotes the interests of independent banking in the State; and

Whereas, Mr. Gibbons received a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of South Carolina and is a 1991 graduate of the Banking School of the South at Louisiana State University; he has been with The Citizens Bank for nineteen years and previously was employed by the State Board of Financial Institutions as a bank examiner; and

Whereas, Mr. Gibbons is an outstanding banker and is highly deserving of recognition for the honor which has been bestowed upon him. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates H. Blake Gibbons, Jr., of Olanta on being named 1998 president of The Independent Banks of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Gibbons and to the members of the Board of Directors of The Citizens Bank of Olanta.
