A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE APPRECIATION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO JOHN GRESSETTE FELDER OF ST. MATTHEWS, SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR HIS MORE THAN TWENTY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS THE ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE OF DISTRICT 93 AND RECOGNIZING HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO CALHOUN AND ORANGEBURG COUNTIES.

Whereas, John Gressette Felder steps aside as the elected representative of the citizens of District 93, after more than twenty years of service to them and to the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, in a legislative career embracing and addressing numerous issues crucial to the people of this State, John Felder made education and health the primary focus of his passion and eloquence; and

Whereas, his dedicated efforts have been appreciated by his fellow lawmakers and his constituents, and also have been recognized through the years with such awards as: 1975 Friend of Education, 1986 Nursing Association Outstanding Legislator, 1988 DHEC Home Health Services Legislator of the Year, 1989 State Health Care Association Legislator of the Year, and 1992 Independent Colleges and Universities Legislator of the Year; and

Whereas, his many additional honors more recently have included recognition for his dauntless support of small business in South Carolina; and

Whereas, his service to the House of Representatives encompassed active participation on a wide range of committees, among others, vice-chairmanships of the Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees and memberships on the Health Care Planning and Oversight Committee and the Special Interest Rate, Automobile Insurance, and Workers' Compensation Study Committees; and

Whereas, the General Assembly will greatly miss his booming oration and ardent service, John Felder's hometown of St. Matthews and his family, including wife Jane, his children Johnny, Ted, Bates, and Derrick, and grandchildren will be the beneficiaries of his renewed capacity to focus his time, and energy on those he loves the most. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby express their appreciation to John Gressette Felder of St. Matthews, South Carolina, for his more than twenty years of dedicated service as the elected representative of District 93 and recognize his contributions to the State of South Carolina and to Calhoun and Orangeburg Counties.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to The Honorable John Gressette Felder.
