CONGRATULATING THE GRIDIRON VIKINGS OF EMERALD HIGH SCHOOL OF GREENWOOD COUNTY ON WINNING THE 1998 CLASS AA STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the Vikings of Emerald High School of Greenwood County captured the 1998 Class AA state football championship by defeating Batesburg-Leesville High School by a score of 9-7 last December at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia; and
Whereas, this was a remarkable accomplishment inasmuch as Emerald High was in only its fourth year of varsity competition at the time it won the 1998 state title; and
Whereas, the Vikings, guided by Head Coach Frank Hill, are to be commended for the dedication, talent, and unity they displayed during the 1998 gridiron campaign; and
Whereas, winning a state championship is an outstanding accomplishment which is highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the gridiron Vikings of Emerald High School of Greenwood County on winning the 1998 Class AA state football championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Viking football team of Emerald High School, in care of Head Coach Frank Hill.
