A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 40-15-105, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH DENTAL HYGIENISTS MAY MONITOR NITROUS OXIDE ANESTHESIA, SO AS TO APPLY SUCH MONITORING TO NITROUS OXIDE INHALATION CONSCIOUS SEDATION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 40-15-105 of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 109 of 1995, is amended to read:

"Section 40-15-105. Upon certification, as provided by the board in regulation, and when under direct supervision of a licensed dentist, a dental hygienist or an expanded duty dental assistant is authorized to monitor nitrous oxide anesthesia inhalation conscious sedation (dental analgesia)."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
