A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

COMMENDING MR. C. DAVID WARREN OF RICHLAND COUNTY FOR HIS TWENTY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS DIRECTOR OF THE RICHLAND COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY, AND RECOGNIZING THE RICHLAND COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY ON BEING RANKED AS ONE OF THE BEST LIBRARY SYSTEMS IN THE NATION.

Whereas, Mr. C. David Warren received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and his graduate degree from the University of Illinois; and

Whereas, during his more than thirty-year career as a library director in Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina, he has been listed in International Who's Who of Professionals, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Southeast and Southwest, and Who's Who in North Carolina; and

Whereas, Mr. Warren is a member of the International Federation of Libraries, the American Library Association, the Southeastern Library Association, and the South Carolina Library Association; and

Whereas, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Friends of Libraries, USA, and is a former President of the South Carolina Association of Public Library Administration; and

Whereas, for the past twenty years he has served with distinction as Director of the Richland County Public Library; and

Whereas, in the January, 1999, issue of American Libraries, the official publication of the American Library Association, the Richland County Public Library was ranked twenty-first out of the four hundred four urban public libraries in the nation; and

Whereas, this distinction ranks the Richland County Public Library ahead of larger library systems in Charlotte, North Carolina, Fairfax, Virginia, and St. Louis, Missouri; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to take this opportunity to commend Mr. C. David Warren on the fine work he has done as Director of the Richland County Public Library and congratulate him and his staff on being recognized by the American Library Association. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina commends Mr. C. David Warren of Richland County for his twenty years of outstanding service as Director of the Richland County Public Library, and recognize the Richland County Public Library on being ranked as one of the best libraries in the nation.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. C. David Warren, Director, Richland County Public Library.
