A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND MR. TRUMAN HUMBERT OF GREENVILLE COUNTY FOR HIS MORE THAN TEN YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A SUCCESSFUL FORENSICS COACH UPON HIS RETIREMENT AS A TEACHER AT SOUTHSIDE HIGH SCHOOL.

Whereas, Mr. Truman Humbert has spent over ten years of his teaching career as a teacher and forensics coach at Southside High School in Greenville County; and

Whereas, in 1989, he organized the Southside High School Speech and Debate Team as an extra-curricular activity with seven participants; and

Whereas, during the past ten years Mr. Humbert's speech and debate teams have received numerous state and national awards and honors; and

Whereas, these awards and honors include the 1991 and 1992 South Carolina State Division AA Championships, the 1997 First Place Award in Dramatic Interpretation at Emory University's Barkley Forum Forensics Tournament, and recognition as one of the top National Forensic League programs in the nation in 1998; and

Whereas, in 1994, Mr. Humbert was recognized as Southside High School's Teacher of the Year; and

Whereas, the students, parents, faculty, and administration of Southside High School, as well as the citizens of this State and nation, have been blessed by the commitment to and leadership in the field of education that Mr. Humbert possesses; and

Whereas, it is with a tremendous sense of appreciation that the members of the General Assembly take this opportunity to recognize Mr. Humbert's accomplishments upon his retirement as a teacher and forensics coach at Southside High School. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly hereby commend Mr. Truman Humbert of Greenville County for his more than ten years of outstanding service as a forensics coach upon his retirement as a teacher at Southside High School.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Truman Humbert.
