TO REQUEST THE STATE HOUSE COMMITTEE TO SELECT AN APPROPRIATE SITE TO ERECT A SUITABLE MONUMENT ON THE STATE HOUSE GROUNDS TO RECOGNIZE ORGAN AND TISSUE DONORS AND TO REQUEST THE GIFT OF LIFE TRUST FUND OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO ASSUME THE COST OF PURCHASING AND INSTALLING THE MONUMENT, IF FUNDS ARE NOT OTHERWISE APPROPRIATED.
Whereas, many South Carolinians are organ and tissue donors and make invaluable contributions to the life and health of those who are organ and tissue recipients in South Carolina and across the nation; and
Whereas, it is fitting and proper to recognize these South Carolinians and all organ and tissue donors for their gifts of life to their fellow men and for their accomplishments and contributions. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That, by this resolution, the South Carolina General Assembly requests the State House Committee to select an appropriate site and cause a suitable monument recognizing and honoring organ and tissue donors to be erected on the State House grounds; and to request the Gift of Life Trust Fund of South Carolina to assume the cost of purchasing and installing the monument, if funds are not otherwise appropriated. All matters associated with site selection and erection of the monument are vested in the committee. The committee shall consult the Division of General Services on the matter of the site, and the division shall advise and render necessary service to the committee on this matter.
