A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING MR. AND MRS. ITALY ALBERT GREENE OF DARLINGTON COUNTY ON THE JOYOUS OCCASION OF THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY, WISHING THEM MANY MORE YEARS OF HAPPINESS TOGETHER, AND RECOGNIZING AND SALUTING THEM FOR THEIR MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY.

Whereas, Mr. Italy Albert Greene, a native of Georgetown County, is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Venus Greene; and

Whereas, he is married to the former Effie S. Bacote of Darlington; they are the parents of two children, Mrs. Cheryl G. Roussel and Mr. Reginald A. Greene, and the grandparents of four lovely grandchildren; and

Whereas, Mr. Greene graduated from Wilson High School of Florence and earned a B. S. degree in agricultural education and a Master's of Education degree from South Carolina State University; he served three years in the United States Air Force; he taught agriculture, biology, general science, and chemistry at Rosemary High School from 1948-1953; he taught agriculture at Mayo High School from 1953 to 1968; he served as assistant principal at Mayo from 1968 to 1969; he served as principal at Mayo from 1969 until his retirement in 1983; he is a member of Bethel AME Church of Darlington, where he has served as Chairman of the Steward Board and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Christian Education and School; and

Whereas, he is a partner with his wife in Comfort Ministries of Darlington; they have made many contributions to their community over the years and are admired and loved by all who have known them; and

Whereas, Albert and Effie Greene will celebrate fifty blessed years of marriage on Saturday, June 5, 1999 at six o'clock in the evening at the Florence Civic Center; they will be surrounded by family, loved ones, and friends who will recognize them for the gift of their marriage and salute them for their countless gifts of many kinds to the community; and

Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. I.A. Greene have made a lasting impact on the community; they are an outstanding couple, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to recognize them in this special manner. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Italy Albert Greene of Darlington County on the joyous occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary, wish them many more years of happiness together, and recognize and salute them for their many contributions to the community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. and Mrs. Italy Albert Greene.
