EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO CLARENDON COUNTY LIBRARY DIRECTOR, SYBIL GILBERT, ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AND EXTENDING TO HER THEIR HIGHEST APPRECIATION FOR HER DEDICATED SERVICE AND WISHING FOR HER HAPPINESS AND GOOD HEALTH AS SHE PURSUES OTHER INTERESTS.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives note that Sybil Gilbert is retiring as library director at the Harvin Clarendon County Library after thirteen years; and

Whereas, she brought to her Clarendon County job years of experience honed in librarianship at a regional public library in Alabama and many university libraries; and

Whereas, in her career she has labored to get children interested in reading in the sure knowledge that those who read and enjoy reading will succeed in school and will have a clear advantage in a society in which educational accomplishment is appreciated and rewarded; and

Whereas, in Ms. Gilbert's distinguished career as Clarendon County Library Director, she has had the help and backing of a hardworking and supportive board of trustees consisting of William Smith, Chairman, Dr. Barbara W. Jenkins, Vice Chairman, Mrs. Edith Callaway, Secretary-Treasurer, Mrs. Lynnelle Blackwell, Mr. Richard L. Boland, Mrs. Mary Jane Howard, Mrs. Sylvia Ivey, Mrs. Kathleen W. McElveen, Mrs. Shirley Patterson, and Mrs. Eleanor Smith. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their congratulations to Clarendon County Library Director, Sybil Gilbert, on the occasion of her retirement, extend to her their highest appreciation for her dedicated public service, and wish for her happiness and good health as she pursues other interests.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Clarendon County Library Director, Sybil Gilbert.
