A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING THE HONORABLE DAVID G. DENNIS, SR., FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE AS CHAIRMAN OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY COUNCIL.

Whereas, the Honorable David G. Dennis, Sr., has served on Spartanburg County Council since 1981, and became Chairman of Spartanburg County Council in 1991; and

Whereas, during his 18 years of service, the Honorable David G. Dennis, Sr., distinguished himself by meritorious service through his demonstrated professional skill, comprehensive knowledge of government, and outstanding leadership; and

Whereas, he is recognized as helping to implement a multitude of outstanding and progressive changes in the administration of county government; and

Whereas, the Honorable David G. Dennis, Sr., has been essential in the comprehensive and efficient management of Spartanburg County through his service on County Council and as Chairman, by providing instrumental assistance and leadership that touched every aspect of county government during his tenure; and

Whereas, his dedicated service resulted in improved county finance and budgeting, implementation of numerous capital improvement projects, development of better administrative policies and procedures, cultural development through accommodation fees, and advancement of economic and industrial development; and

Whereas, the outstanding efforts of the Honorable David G. Dennis, Sr., in the beautification of Spartanburg County and his wholehearted concern resulted in a new county library, renovation of the Judicial Center and new recreational facilities; and

Whereas, his concern for the safety of the citizens of Spartanburg County is illustrated through his support for expanded law enforcement, improved public works, county roads and bridges, including an expanded sanitary sewer service, modernization of emergency service and fire protection, construction of new detention facilities and enhanced waste management; and

Whereas, the Honorable David G. Dennis, Sr., has earned the highest respect and gratitude of all council members, state and local government officials, employees and citizens of Spartanburg County; and

Whereas, the 18 years of distinguished and meritorious service of the Honorable David G. Dennis, Sr., reflect great credit upon himself, the County of Spartanburg and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize the Honorable David G. Dennis, Sr., for his dedicated service as Chairman of Spartanburg County Council and do hereby express their appreciation to the Honorable David G. Dennis, Sr., for such service and further extend their wishes for his continued success in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Honorable David. G. Dennis, Sr.
