A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE STEPHEN ALAN IMBEAU, M.D., OF FLORENCE COUNTY, IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN THE FIELDS OF MEDICINE AND HUMANITY.

Whereas, Stephen Alan Imbeau of Florence County, was born in Portland, Oregon, and was reared in Oakland, California; and

Whereas, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his medical degree from the University of California in San Francisco; and

Whereas, Dr. Imbeau has distinguished himself as: a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin; an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina; an Instructor in Medicine - Family Practice Medical Teaching Service of the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina; and a doctor on the medical staffs of the McLeod Regional Medical Center and the Carolinas Hospital System; and

Whereas, he is an allergist and immunologist with the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Center located in Florence, South Carolina, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and

Whereas, Dr. Imbeau is a member of: the American Medical Association; the Florence County Medical Society; the American College of Physicians; the American Society of Internal Medicine; the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; and the Southeastern Allergy Society; and

Whereas, he has received numerous honors and awards which include: the American Lung Association of South Carolina, Pee Dee Branch, Volunteer of the Year Award; and the South Carolina Ambassador for Economic Development Award; and

Whereas, Dr. Imbeau is a member of the Board of Directors of the Florence National Bank, the Coker College Board of Visitors, and the Florence Rotary Club; and

Whereas, his scholarly writings have been published in numerous medical journals, and he has presented papers at many medical conferences; and

Whereas, he and his wife, Shirley, are the proud parents of three children; and

Whereas, from 1998-1999, Dr. Imbeau served as President of the South Carolina Medical Association; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize the many accomplishments of Stephen Alan Imbeau, M.D.. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, publicly recognize Stephen Alan Imbeau, M.D., of Florence County, Immediate Past President of the South Carolina Medical Association, for his outstanding contributions and accomplishments in the fields of medicine and humanity.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Stephen Alan Imbeau, M.D..
