TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-25-60 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT EVERY PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER IN THIS STATE SHALL RECEIVE AN ANNUAL ALLOCATION FROM THEIR SCHOOL DISTRICT IN THE AMOUNT OF TWO HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS TO PURCHASE INCIDENTAL SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND MATERIALS NEEDED DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, AND TO PROVIDE THAT ANY PORTION OF THE ALLOCATION NOT SPENT SHALL BE RETAINED BY THE DISTRICT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-25-60. Every public school teacher in this State shall receive an annual allocation from their school district in the amount of two hundred fifty dollars to purchase incidental school supplies and materials needed during the school year. Any portion of the allocation not spent shall be retained by the district. The district may require such accounting and recordkeeping procedures as it considers necessary."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
