TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-101-425 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT TEXTBOOKS SOLD AT BOOKSTORES OPERATED BY OR LOCATED WITHIN BUILDINGS OF STATE-SUPPORTED COLLEGES, UNIVERSITIES, AND TECHNICAL SCHOOLS MUST BE PRICED AT NO MORE THAN TEN PERCENT ABOVE COST.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-101-425. Textbooks sold at bookstores operated by or located within buildings of state-supported colleges, universities, and technical schools must be priced at no more than ten percent above cost. The Commission on Higher Education shall enforce the provisions of this section."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
