TO PROVIDE THAT TIME MISSED FROM WORK BY A STATE EMPLOYEE DURING THE WEEK OF JANUARY 23-30, 2000, WHEN THE STATE OFFICE IN WHICH THE EMPLOYEE WORKS WAS CLOSED BY ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR, IS EXCUSED, AND NO EMPLOYEE SHALL SUFFER A LOSS OF COMPENSATION THEREFROM, BE REQUIRED TO USE ANNUAL OR OTHER LEAVE FOR THIS TIME OFF, OR BE REQUIRED TO MAKE UP ANY SUCH TIME, AND TO PROVIDE THAT THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION DO APPLY TO SCHOOL DISTRICT EMPLOYEES OR TEACHERS WHO ARE GOVERNED BY OTHER PROVISIONS OF LAW SPECIFICALLY APPLICABLE TO THEIR SCHOOL DISTRICT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law or regulation, time missed from work by a state employee during the week of January 23-30, 2000, when the state office in which the employee works was closed by order of the Governor, is excused and, no employee shall suffer a loss of compensation therefrom, be required to use annual or other leave for this time off, or be required to make up any such time.
The provisions of this section do apply to school district employees or teachers who shall be governed by other provisions of law specifically applicable to their school district.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
