A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE BEST WISHES AND HEARTFELT CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO OUR CURRENT "MISS SOUTH CAROLINA", DANIELLE DAVIS OF GREER, ON THE SPECIAL OCCASION OF "MISS SOUTH CAROLINA APPRECIATION DAY".

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to have the opportunity to recognize our current "Miss South Carolina", Danielle Davis of Greer; and

Whereas, prior to winning the title of "Miss South Carolina", Miss Davis was crowned Miss Williamston; and

Whereas, this outstanding and loving young lady is the oldest child of George and Donna Davis. She has one brother, Colton, age 15, and one sister, Marla, age 14; and

Whereas, Miss Davis graduated from Riverside High School where she was the recipient of the prestigious Leadership Award from the student government. She was also a member of the National Art Honor Society; and

Whereas, this extremely talented eighteen year old has won twenty-six gold medals while competing in the United States Figure Skating Association. At age sixteen she was the youngest performer ever hired at Paramount Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina; and

Whereas, her platform as Miss South Carolina is promoting volunteerism and teaching children the importance and benefits of volunteering. Miss Davis has completed four thousand hours volunteering in the last two years. Further, she has founded an organization titled "Each One...Reach One" and its goal is leading others to help society by volunteering; and

Whereas, Miss Davis was awarded a four-year full scholarship to Converse College prior to becoming Miss South Carolina. Her talent in the competition was vocal performance, and she hopes to obtain a bachelor of music degree from Converse College and then proceed to Belmont University where she will seek a post graduate degree in vocal performance with a minor in music business and management; and

Whereas, Miss Davis' aspirations for the future are to pursue a career as a recording artist; and

Whereas, Danielle is not only brilliant in the academic sphere, she is also a caring and generous human being of deeply-rooted family values and impeccably high standards; and

Whereas, we are extremely proud of Danielle Davis and are delighted to recognize our "Miss South Carolina" as a goodwill ambassador and role model for our State and a representative of the Palmetto State who is making a difference. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend their best wishes and heartfelt congratulations to our current "Miss South Carolina", Danielle Davis of Greer, on the special occasion of "Miss South Carolina Appreciation Day".

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to "Miss South Carolina", Danielle Davis.
