A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING JENNIFER FOX AS A RECIPIENT OF THE 1999 PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD FOR HER OUTSTANDING RECORD OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE AND COMMUNITY SPIRIT.

Whereas, Jennifer Fox, an esteemed resident of Charleston, South Carolina, and a student at St. Andrew's Parish High School, has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 1999 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and

Whereas, this prestigious award presented by The Prudential Insurance Company of America in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; and

Whereas, Ms. Fox earned this award by giving generously of her time and energy by coordinating a week-long event at her school that encouraged students to sign anti-violence pledges, and the planting of a memorial garden to honor victims of violence; and

Whereas, the success of our State and nation, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of our society depend, in large measure, on the dedication of young people like Ms. Fox who use their talents, time, and resources to serve others in their community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina hereby congratulate and honor Ms. Fox as a recipient of a Prudential Spirit of Community Award, recognize her outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and community spirit, and extend her best wishes for her continued success and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Jennifer Fox and to St. Andrew's Parish High School.
