CONGRATULATING DORCHESTER ACADEMY OF ST. GEORGE ON WINNING THE 1999 SCISAA CLASS AAA STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the Raiders of Dorchester Academy of St. George clinched the 1999 SCISAA Class AAA state football championship by defeating Heathwood Hall 32-17 in Orangeburg on November 26, 1999; and
Whereas, the Raiders closed out the 1999 football campaign with a stellar 13-0 record; and
Whereas, the 1999 roster of the Dorchester Academy Raiders included the following players: Brady Crook, Brandon McClure, Earl Hartzog, Robbie Hayes, Drew Darden, Derek Weathers, Eric Snyder, Ryan Rice, Clint Gruber, Justin Benton, Gregory Rice, Shaun Jackson, Jack Neil, Barry Roach, Adam Jarrett, Phillip Albergotti, Sam Hartzog, Brian Reeves, Matt Grooms, Bill McKinnon, Stephen Britt, Clark Felder, Chris Myers, Kevin O'Brien, John Cooper, Alex Reeves, and Jason Green; and
Whereas, the Raiders were excellently led and guided by Head Coach Stanley Gruber and assistant coaches Bobby Johnston, Dwayne Windham, and Harry Bowers; and
Whereas, team trainer was Lindsay Durr; the ball boys were Tyler Crook and McKinley Stephens; team managers were Erin Jackson and Jennifer Durr; and school athletic director is Stanley Gruber; and
Whereas, the Raiders exhibited outstanding talent, hard work, determination, and unity throughout their 1999 football season, qualities which propelled them to the state crown; and
Whereas, we are very pleased to have the opportunity to recognize and honor such an outstanding group of young men. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Dorchester Academy of St. George on winning the 1999 SCISAA Class AAA state football championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Raiders football team and the scoaches of Dorchester Academy.
