A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE W. J. KEENAN HIGH SCHOOL "RAIDERS" BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM OF RICHLAND COUNTY AND THEIR COACHES FOR AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON AND ON THE OCCASION OF WINNING THE 1999-2000 CLASS AAA STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly note with pride the extraordinary achievement of the W. J. Keenan High School "Raiders" Boys Basketball Team for winning the 1999-2000 Class AAA State Basketball Championship by defeating the Dillon High School "Wildcats" by a score of 65-50; and

Whereas, under the outstanding leadership of first-year Head Coach, Zachary Norris, the "Raiders" compiled a record of 30-2, was ranked number one in Class AAA throughout the entire season, and compiled a perfect record against in-state rivals; and

Whereas, the W. J. Keenan High School Boys Basketball roster for the 1999-2000 season included the following players: Asten Lawson, Pete Asmond, Jerome Harper, Sam Gortman, Angelo Smith, Kenny Clark, Jerrod Coefield, Patrick Crumpton, Paris Daniels, Chris Irick, Joe McEachern, Micquel Thompson, Jarred Weeks, Robert Wylie, and Thurman Zimmerman; and

Whereas, special recognition should be given to senior guard, Jerome Harper, who was named the Class AAA Mr. Basketball and a McDonalds All-American; and

Whereas, the "Raiders" championship season would not have been possible without the support of W. J. Keenan High School's cheerleaders, student body, faculty, staff, parents, and many loyal fans and supporters; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations to recognize the extraordinary achievements of the W. J. Keenan High School "Raiders" Boys Basketball Team, Head Coach, Zachary Norris, and other school officials. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to the W. J. Keenan High School "Raiders" Boys Basketball Team of Richland County and its coaches for an exceptional season and on the occasion of winning the 1999-2000 Class AAA State Basketball Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to W. J. Keenan High School "Raiders" Boys Basketball Team Head Coach, Zachary Norris.
