A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE CHARLESTON FARMS NEIGHBORHOOD OF NORTH CHARLESTON FOR WINNING FIRST PLACE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD CATEGORY IN THE CITY OF NORTH CHARLESTON'S CLEAN CITIES SWEEP HELD AS PART OF THE YEAR 2000 GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP CONTEST.

Whereas, the City of North Charleston recently participated in a national program called the 2000 Great American Cleanup Contest which encouraged volunteers to go into the various sections of their community and actively participate in cleanup activities; and

Whereas, as part of its enthusiastic involvement in this contest, the City of North Charleston had a neighborhood category whereby various neighborhoods volunteered to assist in the beautification of the area where their residents live, which involved the time consuming task of picking up and removing litter and debris and doing other cleanup activities; and

Whereas, the Charleston Farms neighborhood won first place in the Neighborhood Category for the City of North Charleston's Clean Cities Sweep; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is justly proud of the efforts of this group to help beautify the City of North Charleston. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members commend the Charleston Farms neighborhood of North Charleston for winning first place in the Neighborhood Category in the City of North Charleston's Clean Cities Sweep held as a part of the Year 2000 Great American Cleanup Contest.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Charleston Farms neighborhood.
