A HOUSE RESOLUTION

COMMENDING AND THANKING DR. BILLY K. FLOYD OF LEXINGTON COUNTY FOR HIS OUTSTANDING AND DEDICATED SERVICE AS SUPERINTENDENT OF LEXINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO, AND WISHING DR. FLOYD MUCH HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Billy K. Floyd has served as Superintendent of Lexington School District Two (West Columbia) since 1997; during his tenure, Dr. Floyd's efforts and hard work have made Lexington School District Two one of the best school districts in the Palmetto State; and

Whereas, Dr. Floyd is retiring as superintendent this year; and

Whereas, he served as Superintendent of the Clover School District (York Number Two) from 1988 to 1997 and as Superintendent of East Clarendon School District Three (Turbeville) from 1977 to 1988; and

Whereas, he was Administrative Assistant for Curriculum Development for the Horry County School District (Conway) from 1976 to 1977 and served as Principal of Loris High School (1974-76), Principal of Barnwell High School (1971-74), and Principal of Barnwell Junior High School (1970-71); he was also math teacher, basketball coach, baseball coach, and transportation supervisor at Barnwell High School from 1968 to 1970; and

Whereas, Dr. Floyd has had a career of true excellence in education; he has devoted his time, talents, energy, and leadership toward making public education in South Carolina outstanding; he is respected and admired as a professional across the State; and we are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize him in this special way. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and thank Dr. Billy K. Floyd of Lexington County for his outstanding and dedicated service as Superintendent of Lexington School District Two and wish him much happiness and success following his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Floyd.
