A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE SCHOOL OFFICIALS OF BLACKVILLE-HILDA HIGH SCHOOL, COACHES, AND MEMBERS OF THE BLACKVILLE-HILDA "LADY HAWKS" BASKETBALL TEAM ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR WINNING THE 1999-2000 GIRLS CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN BASKETBALL.

Whereas, on Tuesday, March 7, 2000, the Blackville-Hilda "Lady Hawks" scored the game's last 11 points and registered a 48-43 come-from-behind victory over the Lewisville "Lady Lions" in the Class A Upper State Championship in girls basketball; and

Whereas, the Blackville-Hilda "Lady Hawks" basketball team again rallied from an 11 point deficit to win the Class A girls basketball championship title with a 47-45 victory against McBee on Saturday, March 11, 2000; and

Whereas, led by forward Tiffany Haynes, who averages 14 points per game, and shooting guard Keisha Jones, who averages 15 points per game, the Blackville-Hilda maroon and gold "Lady Hawks" have compiled an impressive season record of 27 wins and 4 losses; and

Whereas, the 1999-2000 Blackville-Hilda Lady Hawks Class A State Championship team consisted of team members: Ebony Armstrong, Celeina Bradley, Katrina Coleman, Fanesha Donaldson, Kiandra Donaldson, Shanekie Donaldson, Pennie Graham, Tiffany Hagood, Tormesha Haynes, Amanda Hutto, Keisha Jones, Courtney Kemp, Sekina Ray, Dania Salley, Tamika Thomas, and Gracie Ward, all of whom displayed tremendous athletic ability and the spirit of champions throughout the season; and

Whereas, the successful girls basketball program at Blackville-Hilda High School would not be possible without talented coaches and the leadership and support of school officials, and this championship team was superbly coached by Farrell Zissette, Head Coach, and Assistant Coaches Vicki Zissette, Robert Williams, and Mike Beasley, and was ably supported throughout the season by Elliott Willingham, Principal, and Andy Sandifer, Superintendent; and

Whereas, in recognition of the many hours of practice, hard work, dedication, sacrifice, and championship spirit reflected in the come-from-behind wins over the Lewisville and McBee teams that led the Blackville-Hilda "Lady Hawks" to the 1999-2000 Class A girls basketball championship title, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives wish to recognize and congratulate this outstanding group of young women, the champion "Lady Hawks", their coaches, and supporting school officials, upon their good example and tremendous come-from-behind championship victories and to wish them continued success in the future. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the school officials of Blackville-Hilda High School, coaches, and members of the Blackville-Hilda "Lady Hawks" basketball team on the occasion of their winning the 1999-2000 girls Class A State Championship in basketball.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the championship Blackville-Hilda "Lady Hawks" basketball team and their coaches and to the officials of Blackville-Hilda High School.
