CONGRATULATING THE IRMO HIGH SCHOOL "YELLOW JACKETS" BOYS SOCCER TEAM, COACHES, AND STAFF ON WINNING THE 2000 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to have the opportunity to recognize the Irmo High School "Yellow Jackets" Boys Soccer Team, its coaches, and staff on their successful 2000 season; and

Whereas, the "Yellow Jackets" (18-4) won their fifth Class AAAA State Championship title in the past six years in dominating fashion with a 4-2 win over Ridge View High School; and

Whereas, the "Yellow Jackets" Boys Soccer Team includes the following: Matt Smith, Gill Strait, Josh Endress, Ryan Kinard, Sid Mullins, Saul Stoner, Daniel Perry, Greg Foster, Seth Stoner, Kellie Herndon, Josh Pike, Dan McKechnie, Kevin Holder, Paul Wiggins, Michael Durstine, Randy Owen, Stephen Cross, Adam Endress, Mohammad Al-Shafie, Sean Murphy, Zack Savitz, Robbie Kritt, Josh Puryear, and Rob Wilson; and

Whereas, Head Coach, Phil Savitz, is to be commended for not only providing the leadership to make this championship season possible, but also for: compiling a 368-34-5 record during this twenty years of coaching at Irmo High School; coaching eleven Class AAAA State Championship Teams; taking his teams to all Class AAAA State finals since 1987, with the exception of 1994; being named the 2000 Region Coach of the Year; and having achieved state records for the most wins, state championships, consecutive state championships, and state runners-up; and

Whereas, the "Yellow Jackets" championship season would not have been possible without the support of Irmo High School's administration, faculty, staff, parents, and many loyal fans and supporters; and

Whereas, the success of the Irmo High School "Yellow Jackets" Boys Soccer Team has brought great pride to their school and community; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to congratulate the Irmo High School "Yellow Jackets" Boys Soccer Team, Head Coach, Phil Savitz, and his staff on winning the 2000 Class AAAA State Championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Irmo High School "Yellow Jackets" Boys Soccer Team, Head Coach, Phil Savitz, and his staff on winning the 2000 Class AAAA State Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to

Head Coach, Phil Savitz.
