TO DECLARE JULY 1, 2000, AS DAVID BEASLEY DAY IN SOUTH CAROLINA IN RECOGNITION OF HIS EFFORTS TO REMOVE THE CONFEDERATE FLAG FROM THE DOME ATOP THE STATE HOUSE AND HIS EFFORTS TO END VIDEO POKER PAYOUTS IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, while Governor of South Carolina, the Honorable David Beasley worked diligently toward the goals of having the Confederate Flag removed from the dome atop the State House and to end video poker payouts; and
Whereas, the Confederate Flag is slated to be removed from atop the dome of the State House on July 1, 2000; and
Whereas, video poker payouts are also banned in South Carolina beginning July 1, 2000; and
Whereas, the Honorable David Beasley should be recognized for his work and efforts to remove the Confederate Flag from atop the dome of the State House and his efforts to end video poker payouts in South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That July 1, 2000, is declared David Beasley Day in South Carolina in recognition of his efforts to remove the Confederate Flag from the dome atop the State House and to end video poker payouts.
Be if further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable David Beasley.
