A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE SOUTH CAROLINA EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION NETWORK AND THE SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE FOR OUTSTANDING PLANNING AND PROGRAMMING THAT RESULTED IN THE TELEVISION BROADCASTING OF THE 1998 SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES FOR ALL OF THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO ENJOY.

Whereas, for many years past the South Carolina High School League and school officials, coaches, staff, and talented high school athletes who play high school football have sponsored and engaged in truly thrilling and outstanding football playoffs and championship competition; and, from smaller to larger schools, the competitive levels are A, AA, AAA, AAAA Division II, and AAAA Division I; and

Whereas, the 1998 high school football championship games were played on December 4 and 5, 1998, at Williams-Bryce Stadium in Columbia, wherein: Lewisville High School defeated Johnsonville High School 28 to 7 to win the 1998 Class A state football championship; Emerald High School defeated Batesburg-Leesville High School 9 to 7 to win the 1998 Class AA state football championship; Daniel High School defeated Manning High School 34 to 27 to win the 1998 Class AAA state football championship; Marlboro County High School defeated Ridge View High School 41 to 15 to win the 1998 Class AAAA Division II state football championship; and Summerville High School defeated Gaffney High School 31 to 23 to win the 1998 Class AAAA Division I high school football championship; and

Whereas, through the collaborative efforts of Paul Amos, Tom Clark, Bob Dixon, and Jim Forrest on behalf of the South Carolina Educational Television Network, and Ronnie Matthews, Executive Director, and the Executive Committee of the South Carolina High School League, arrangements were made to televise and broadcast the 1998 South Carolina high school football championship games, with outstanding results that lent additional recognition and prestige to the high school football championship games and enabled citizens all over the State to enjoy them; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate wish to commend the South Carolina Educational Television Network for their outstanding planning and programming that resulted in the television broadcasting of the 1998 South Carolina High School football championship games. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, commend the South Carolina Educational Television Network and the South Carolina High School League for outstanding planning and programming that resulted in the television broadcasting of the 1998 South Carolina High School football championship games for all of the people of South Carolina to enjoy.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the South Carolina Educational Television Network and to the South Carolina High School League.
