A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXTENDING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO BROOK GLENN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OF TAYLORS, SOUTH CAROLINA, ON THE SPECIAL OCCASION OF CELEBRATING ITS THIRTIETH BIRTHDAY.

Whereas, Brook Glenn Elementary School began accepting students in March of 1969, with an ongoing mission to provide educational opportunities to produce creative, life-long learners, productive, responsible members of society; and

Whereas, Brook Glenn Elementary School consists of grades K (five-year-olds) through fifth grade, presently has an enrollment of four hundred twenty-five students, and seventy percent of the school's staff has a Masters Degree or above; and

Whereas, Brook Glenn Elementary School has achieved a one hundred percent Parent/Teacher Association membership for twenty-one consecutive years and a two hundred percent PTA membership for ten years; and

Whereas, Brook Glenn Elementary School has received top accreditation ratings from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools during the past thirty years; and

Whereas, Brook Glenn Elementary School's achievements and awards include the following: South Carolina School Incentive Reward Program winners for eleven years; Palmetto Pride Award; Artists in Residence Grants; Greenville County Distinguished Reading Teacher Awards; and Alliance for Quality Education Grants; and

Whereas, Brook Glenn Elementary School continues to contribute thousands of dollars to the American Heart Association through their Annual Jump Rope for Heart program; students contribute yearly to the Cans for Kids program; is actively involved with a DARE and Just Say No program; and Red Ribbon Week; and

Whereas, Brook Glenn Elementary School offers exciting programs for its students including: summer reading programs, accelerated reading program, book fair, family math night, national geography bee, career education, and speech programs; and

Whereas, for these and countless other contributions and achievements, Brook Glenn Elementary School exemplifies the best traits of providing to its students the quality education they deserve; and

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, is greatly pleased to have this opportunity to extend a special thanks to the staff, students, parents, and community for their selfless dedication and support to Brook Glenn Elementary School. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate extend their congratulations to Brook Glenn Elementary School of Taylors, South Carolina, on the special occasion of celebrating its Thirtieth Birthday.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Brook Glenn Elementary School.
