A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 16-3-632 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A PERSON WHO ASSAULTS OR THREATENS AN INDIVIDUAL ATTEMPTING TO SERVE A JUDICIAL DOCUMENT IS GUILTY OF ASSAULT AND BATTERY OF A HIGH AND AGGRAVATED NATURE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 16-3-632. A person who assaults or threatens an individual attempting to serve a judicial document is guilty of the common law crime of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
