A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-5-4795 SO AS TO REQUIRE FLUORESCENT TAPE ON THE SIDES AND REAR OF A TRAILER, SEMITRAILER, OR POLE TRAILER WEIGHING IN EXCESS OF THREE THOUSAND POUNDS GROSS WEIGHT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 56-5-4795. A trailer, semitrailer, or pole trailer weighing in excess of three thousand pounds gross weight must have a six-inch strip of fluorescent tape paint, metal, or other permanent substance affixed to each side of the trailer from the front to the rear and to the rear of the trailer from side to side."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect January 1, 2000.
