A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, ENACTING THE SOUTH CAROLINA PRESERVATION OF SCHOOLS TAX BASE ACT, BY ADDING SECTION 4-1-171 SO AS TO SPECIFY THE PROPERTY WHICH MAY BE LOCATED IN A MULTICOUNTY INDUSTRIAL OR BUSINESS PARK.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The General Assembly of South Carolina finds that the education of this state's children is of the highest priority. The General Assembly further finds that measures must be taken to ensure that a school district's tax base is not eroded by economic development incentives, and that all revenue generated or determined by local school district tax millage must be preserved for use by school districts for school purposes.

SECTION 2. This act may be cited as the South Carolina Preservation of Schools Tax Base Act.
