A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO FIX WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12, 2000, AT 12:00 NOON AS THE TIME FOR THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE SENATE TO MEET IN JOINT SESSION IN THE HALL OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING MEMBERS OF THE BOARDS OF TRUSTEES OF CLEMSON UNIVERSITY, COASTAL CAROLINA UNIVERSITY, THE COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON, FRANCIS MARION UNIVERSITY, LANDER UNIVERSITY, THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA, SOUTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY, THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA, THE WIL LOU GRAY OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL, WINTHROP UNIVERSITY, AND THE BOARD OF VISITORS OF THE CITADEL, TO SUCCEED THOSE MEMBERS WHOSE TERMS EXPIRE IN 2000 OR WHOSE POSITIONS OTHERWISE MUST BE FILLED, AND TO ESTABLISH A PROCEDURE REGARDING NOMINATIONS AND NOMINATING AND SECONDING SPEECHES FOR THE CANDIDATES FOR THESE OFFICES DURING THE JOINT SESSION.

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

(1) That the House of Representatives and the Senate meet in joint session in the Hall of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at 12:00 Noon for the purpose of electing members of the Boards of Trustees of Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University, the College of Charleston, Francis Marion University, Lander University, the Medical University of South Carolina, South Carolina State University, the University of South Carolina, the Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School, Winthrop University, and the Board of Visitors of the Citadel, to succeed those members whose terms expire in 2000 or whose positions otherwise must be filled.

(2) That all nominations be made by the chairman of the joint legislative committee which screened the candidates for the above offices and that no further nominating nor any seconding speeches be made during the joint session by members of the General Assembly on behalf of any of the candidates.
