A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND SARAH BARBER STEVENSON, A LOYAL, DEDICATED, AND HARD-WORKING EMPLOYEE OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WHO IS RETIRING AT THE END OF THIS MONTH, AND TO WISH HER THE VERY BEST IN THE ACTIVE LIFE SHE WILL LEAD IN HER RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Sarah Barber Stevenson has been a hard-working, dedicated, and loyal worker for the House of Representatives in the Blatt Building. She has decided to retire from her position on March 31, 2000; and

Whereas, Sarah is the daughter of the late Burley and Lottie G. Barber. She is married to Deacon Thomas Stevenson and they are the proud parents of two sons, Anthony and Kenneth. The family has now grown to include a lovely daughter-in-law, Jessie, and three grandchildren, Shayla Marie, Jessica Noel, and Ricky Green. The grandchildren, rightfully, are her pride and joy and tug at the "heartstrings" of her life; and

Whereas, she is a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church under the spiritual leadership of Reverend Leon Dickerson. Sarah sings in the church choir, she is a deaconess and serves on the church's usher board; and she is an active member of the Lillie Mayo Church Aid Group; and

Whereas, after she retires, the staff in the Blatt Building will certainly miss her witty and gentle personality. For instance, the ladies in House Bookkeeping are keeping their fingers crossed that the person who fills this position will possess the congenial and pleasing personality they have so much enjoyed in Mrs. Sarah; and

Whereas, in addition to the representatives, all of Mrs. Sarah's co-workers, and that list includes Mrs. Helen, supervisor, Salena, assistant supervisor, and Sabrina, Pam, Mrs. Bertie, Mrs. Cat, Terry, Fonta, Glenda, and Charles, wish Mrs. Sarah their very best in her retirement years; and

Whereas, do not be surprised on one of these Sunday mornings to look out in the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church congregation and see two good friends of Mrs. Sarah, Cynthia Lee and Paulette Goodwin in fellowship with her. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives recognize and commend Sarah Barber Stevenson, a loyal, dedicated, and hard-working employee of the House of Representatives who is retiring at the end of this month and wish her the very best in the active life she will lead in her retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Sarah Barber Stevenson.
