To whom was referred a Bill (H. 4864), to amend Section 50-5-1515, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to taking shad by hook and line and to set limits on the number of shad taken, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

That they have duly and carefully considered the same, and recommend that the same do pass with amendment:

Amend the bill, as and if amended, by striking all after the enacting words and inserting:

/ SECTION 1. Section 50-5-1515 of the 1976 Code, as added by an act of 2000 bearing ratification number 253, is amended to read:

"Section 50-5-1515. (A) Except as provided in this section, a person taking or attempting to take shad by cast net or by hook and line including rod and reel may take or possess no more than an aggregate of twenty ten American and hickory shad in any one day.

(B) A person taking or attempting to take shad by cast net or by hook and line including rod and reel in the Santee River may take or possess no more than an aggregate of twenty American and hickory shad in any one day.

(C) No shad taken by cast net or by hook and line including rod and reel may be sold, offered for sale, or purchased. In freshwaters, a person must hold a freshwater fishing license."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

Renumber sections to conform.

Amend totals and title to conform.

A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 50-5-1515, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO TAKING SHAD BY HOOK AND LINE AND TO SET LIMITS ON THE NUMBER OF SHAD TAKEN, SO AS TO MAKE THE SECTION APPLICABLE TO TAKING SHAD BY CAST NET AND TO REDUCE THE AGGREGATE NUMBER OF SHAD TAKEN FROM TWENTY TO TEN IN ANY ONE DAY.

Amend Title To Conform

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 50-5-1515 of the 1976 Code, as added by an act of 2000 bearing ratification number 253, is amended to read:
