A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 6-9-140 SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE CONSTRUCTION OF A COMMERCIAL OR RESIDENTIAL BUILDING OR STRUCTURE USING SYNTHETIC STUCCO FOR AN EXTERIOR SURFACE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1.The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 6-9-140. Beginning January 1, 2000, no commercial or residential buildings or structures may be constructed using synthetic stucco (exterior insulation and finish systems) for an exterior surface."

SECTION 2. The provisions of this act do not apply to a building or structure for which a building permit has been granted or on which construction has begun before January 1, 2000.

SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
