A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 1-1-1040, SO AS TO REQUIRE AGENCIES OF STATE GOVERNMENT OR POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS OF THE STATE WHICH CONTRACT WITH CORPORATIONS TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO OR FOR THE AGENCY TO ONLY CONTRACT WITH CORPORATIONS THAT HAVE HEADQUARTERS IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 1-1-1040. Any agency of state government or any political subdivision of the State including, but not limited to, public service districts, school districts, counties, and municipalities which contracts with corporations for a service including, but not limited to, food, janitorial, or security services may only contract with a corporation that has corporate headquarters, as defined in Section 12-6-3410(J), in South Carolina."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
