A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE OFFICERS AND FIREFIGHTERS, BOTH PAID AND VOLUNTEER, OF THE SOUTH LYNCHES FIRE DEPARTMENT OF FLORENCE AND WILLIAMSBURG COUNTIES FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO PUBLIC SAFETY, TO CONGRATULATE THEM ON RECEIVING A PUBLIC FIRE PROTECTION CLASS 5 CLASSIFICATION IN ITS SERVE AREA FROM THE INSURANCE SERVICES OFFICE, AND TO EXTEND EVERY GOOD WISH TO THIS BRAVE AND DEDICATED GROUP OF PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS FOR THEIR PERSONAL SAFETY AND FOR RESOUNDING SUCCESS IN ALL OF THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the South Lynches Fire Department, serving portions of Florence and Williamsburg Counties, is staffed and manned by a truly outstanding group of brave and dedicated firefighters, both paid and volunteer, who are known for their professionalism; and

Whereas, the Insurance Services Office Inc., of Marlton, New Jersey, is the leading supplier of statistical, underwriting, and actuarial information for the property and casualty insurance industry; and

Whereas, most insurers use the Insurance Services Office's Public Property Classification survey and classifications for underwriting and calculating premiums for residential, commercial, and industrial properties; and

Whereas, as a testimony to their dedication to public service and professionalism, the South Lynches Fire Department has improved its fire suppression systems so as to recently receive a public fire protection Class 5 classification for one hundred percent of its fire district service area in Florence and Williamsburg Counties from the Insurance Services Office; and

Whereas, by virtue of this achievement, the South Lynches Fire Department becomes the only rural fire department in South Carolina to have an Insurance Service Office Class 5 classification in one hundred percent of its fire district in Florence and Williamsburg Counties; and

Whereas, the successes of the South Lynches Fire Department in achieving a Class 5 classification means the fire suppression services for the community it serves are improving in the face of the demands of a changing environment and continue to reduce the cost of insurance premiums for homes and businesses in its fire district; and

Whereas, the South Lynches Fire Department, and the dedicated professionals who make the department an example to be emulated, are to be commended and congratulated for its brave and courageous efforts to serve the public by providing emergency response to both fires and other disasters. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, commend the officers and firefighters, both paid and volunteer, of the South Lynches Fire Department of Florence and Williamsburg Counties for their outstanding contribution to public safety, congratulate them on receiving a public fire protection Class 5 classification in its service area from the Insurance Services Office, and extend every good wish to this brave and dedicated group of professional firefighters for their personal safety and for resounding success in all of their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the South Lynches Fire Department of Florence and Williamsburg Counties.
