TO AMEND CHAPTER 11, TITLE 50, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PROTECTION OF GAME, BY ADDING SECTION 50-11-315, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT HUNTERS MUST WEAR A HAT, SHIRT, COAT, OR VEST OF SOLID VISIBLE INTERNATIONAL ORANGE DURING GUN AND MUZZLELOADER HUNTING SEASONS FOR DEER, AND TO PROVIDE EXCEPTIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 3, Chapter 11, Title 50 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 50-11-315. All persons hunting deer must wear a hat, shirt, coat, or vest of solid visible international orange during those open seasons for deer when guns and muzzleloaders are used. Persons hunting dove, duck, and turkey are exempt from this requirement. Persons using archery equipment are exempt from this requirement except when hunting deer during the gun or muzzleloader hunting season. Persons hunting small game at night or on privately owned lands are also exempt from this requirement."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
