TO COMMEND JAMES MACK, SON OF NINA AND FRANK MACK AND A SENIOR AT HAMMOND SCHOOL IN COLUMBIA, FOR ACHIEVING A PERFECT SCORE OF SIXTEEN HUNDRED ON THE NATIONALLY RENOWNED COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION, THE SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST.
Whereas, James Mack lives in the Sandy Run community of Calhoun County with his parents, Nina and Frank Mack, and his younger sister, Catherine; and
Whereas, James is a senior at Hammond School in Columbia and preparing to attend college where he will focus on engineering as a major; and
Whereas, James has achieved the maximum score of sixteen hundred on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT); and
Whereas, the College Board, administrators of the test, documents that the number of students who achieve a perfect score is very small. Of 2.28 million SATs taken during the 1999-2000 school year, only 541 students earned a 1600, which calculates to be one perfect score for every 4,214 tests taken. James is one in an elite class of students; and
Whereas, not only has James excelled at this test, he is a well-rounded person with many interests and skills. He loves math and has been part of Hammond's math team in various competitions. He is a member of Hammond's football team and a National Merit Scholarship finalist. He is a licensed pilot who flew solo for the first time at age sixteen; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly take great pride in the accomplishments of James Mack and wish him every success in his final semester of high school and in his college years. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly commend James Mack, son of Nina and Frank Mack, and senior at Hammond School in Columbia, for achieving a perfect score of sixteen hundred on the nationally renowned college entrance examination, the Scholastic Aptitude Test.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to James Mack.
