A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE DEBBIE ROGERS ON HER SUCCESS AS THE COACH OF THE LEWISVILLE HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS, WHO WON THE SOUTH CAROLINA CHEERLEADER COACHES ASSOCIATION CLASS A/AA STATE CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIP ON DECEMBER 15, 2000, AND TO WISH HER WELL IN HER CONTINUING BATTLE WITH CANCER.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly applaud Debbie Rogers for her dedication as the coach of the South Carolina State Champion Lewisville High School Cheerleaders; and

Whereas, Debbie Rogers has long been devoted to coaching cheerleading; this is the tenth time that she has coached a state championship team; and

Whereas, Debbie is battling cancer with great determination, and it is a constant struggle for her to be present at all of the cheerleading practices. However, her commitment to the cheerleaders prevailed over her illness when she was allowed by her oncologist to go to the State Cheerleading Championship in Columbia so she could be there to mouth the calls to her cheerleaders and cheer them to victory; and

Whereas, the cheerleaders' spirits were lifted when they saw Debbie Rogers coming into the coliseum for their routine, and the cheerleaders immediately felt a surge of confidence that propelled them on to win the state championship; and

Whereas, the General Assembly congratulates Debbie Rogers for her courage and fortitude in battling this terrible disease and for her leadership of the State Champion Lewisville High School Cheerleaders. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Debbie Rogers on her success as the coach of the Lewisville High School Cheerleaders, who won the South Carolina Cheerleader Coaches Association Class A/AA State Cheerleading Championship on December 15, 2000, and to wish her well in her continuing battle with cancer.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Debbie Rogers.
