A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND CHUCK AND PENNY EMLING FOR THEIR GENEROUS SUPPORT AND OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS AS HONORARY COACHES OF THE LANDER UNIVERSITY MEN'S TENNIS TEAM DURING 1999 AND 2000 WHICH WERE EACH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS.

Whereas, the Lander University Men's Tennis Team won the 2000 NCAA Division II National Championship which was their record-breaking eighth consecutive NCAA Division II championship, and twelfth overall; and

Whereas, this outstanding Lander Team included a number of players who have received many prestigious individual awards; and

Whereas, Chuck and Penny Emling were honorary coaches of the Lander University Men's Tennis Team in 1999 when it won the national championship, and in 2000 when it won its record-breaking eighth consecutive national championship; and

Whereas, these wonderful individuals through their generous support and active involvement helped Lander's dedicated young players achieve their goals, goals that brought recognition to NCAA Division II tennis and provided motivation and instruction to the game's future stars; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate would like to publicly recognize and commend this unselfish couple for their altruism and inspiration and, by this resolution, honor them as valued friends of Lander University and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate commend Chuck and Penny Emling for their generous support and outstanding contributions as honorary coaches of the Lander University Men's Tennis Team during 1999 and 2000 which were each national championship seasons.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Chuck and Penny Emling.
