A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE BEST WISHES AND HEARTFELT CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO OUR CURRENT "MISS SOUTH CAROLINA", HEATHER HUDSON OF LEXINGTON COUNTY, ON THE SPECIAL OCCASION OF "MISS SOUTH CAROLINA APPRECIATION DAY".

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to have the opportunity to recognize our current "Miss South Carolina", Heather Hudson of Lexington County; and

Whereas, prior to winning the title of "Miss South Carolina", Miss Hudson was crowned Miss Tigertown; and

Whereas, this outstanding and lovely young lady is the oldest child of Thomas Ray Hudson and Vicki Moss Hudson. Her father is a fraud investigator and her mother teaches school. She has two brothers, Shaun, age nineteen, and Alan, age seventeen; and

Whereas, Ms. Hudson graduated from Lexington High School where she was her class valedictorian. Her scholastic honors also include being a Herring and Tandy scholar and achieving the Dean's list; and

Whereas, Heather graduated from Furman University where she was a teaching assistant for music theory and an employee coordinator. She has organized Just Say No/D.A.R.E. programs for local elementary schools; and

Whereas, for her talent in the pageant, Heather sang a classical number. This accomplished young woman has performed in twenty-two musical productions and operas and had a leading role in nine of them. She is a state winner of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition. She plans to study for a Masters in Vocal Performance degree from Belmont University in Tennessee, and to become a recording artist and national motivational speaker; and

Whereas, Heather is not only brilliant in the academic sphere, she is also a caring and generous human being with deeply-rooted family values and impeccably high standards; and

Whereas, we are extremely proud of Heather Hudson and are delighted to recognize our "Miss South Carolina" as a goodwill ambassador and role model for our State and a representative of the Palmetto State who is making a difference. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend their best wishes and heartfelt congratulations to our current "Miss South Carolina", Heather Hudson of Lexington County, on the special occasion of "Miss South Carolina Appreciation Day".

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to "Miss South Carolina", Heather Hudson.
