TO COMMEND MRS. SARAH D. BREWER OF FLORENCE FOR HER DEVOTION TO EDUCATION AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES AND FOR HER OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE FLORENCE COUNTY DISABILITIES AND SPECIAL NEEDS BOARD, TO CONGRATULATE HER ON THE OCCASION OF THE SARAH D. BREWER TRAINING CENTER BEING NAMED IN HER HONOR, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO MRS. BREWER IN ALL OF HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, Mrs. Sarah D. Brewer was appointed to the Florence County Disabilities and Special Needs Board on March 26, 1990. For the past eleven years, Mrs. Brewer has served in many capacities on the Board of Directors. She is currently the secretary. She also serves on the Florence County Disabilities Foundation; and
Whereas, Mrs. Brewer has a bachelor of arts degree from Morris College and a masters of science degree from S.C. State College. She has a Certification in Supervision, Guidance, and School Law from N.C. Central University and S. C. State University; and
Whereas, Mrs. Brewer's occupational background includes Elementary and Head Start Programs, high school and college programs, Florence County, local, state, and national programs. She has served on the S. C. State Board of Education, National State Board of Education, Florence County Instructional Professional Development Program, and S. C. School Counselor Legislative; and
Whereas, a tremendous asset to the Florence County Disabilities and Special Needs Board of Directors during her tenure, Mrs. Brewer recently ended her service with the board due to health reasons. The Lake City Child Development Center was closed in November 2000, and the Board of Directors decided that the vacant facility could be used as a training center and computer lab for the Florence County Disabilities and Special Needs employees, as well as those persons with disabilities served by the agency; and
Whereas, Mrs. Brewer has the professional's true commitment to education as well as genuine love and concern for persons with disabilities that is inspirational to all who have known and worked with her. In recognition of her devotion and outstanding service, the Florence County Disabilities and Special Needs Board of Directors determined to rename the renewed training center the Sarah D. Brewer Training Center in her honor; and
Whereas, in celebration of Mrs. Brewer's many contributions to the Florence County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, the Disabilities Foundation, and in the field of education, a dedication ceremony for the new Sarah D. Brewer Training Center is slated for March 30, 2001. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Mrs. Sarah D. Brewer of Florence for her devotion to education and persons with disabilities and for her outstanding service as a member of the Florence County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, congratulate her on the occasion of the Sarah D. Brewer Training Center being named in her honor, and extend best wishes to Mrs. Brewer in all of her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Sarah D. Brewer of Florence.
