A BILL

TO AMEND TITLE 59, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO EDUCATION, BY ADDING SECTION 59-18-345 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE PALMETTO ACHIEVEMENT CHALLENGE TEST (PACT) SHALL BE ADMINISTERED ON A SCHOOL DISTRICT BY SCHOOL DISTRICT BASIS WITH THE DATE OF THE ANNUAL TEST ADMINISTERED IN ANY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO BE ON THE DAY FOLLOWING COMPLETION OF THE DISTRICT'S ONE HUNDRED SIXTIETH DAY OF STUDENT INSTRUCTION WITH THE MAKE-UP TEST TO BE TWO WEEKS LATER.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

    "Section 59-18-345.    The Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test (PACT) shall be administered on a school district by school district basis with the date of the annual test administered in any school district to be on the day following completion of the district's one hundred sixtieth day of student instruction with the make-up test to be two weeks later."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
