A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE CALHOUN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL "SAINTS" BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACHES FOR AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON AND ON CAPTURING THE 2000-2001 CLASS AA STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP AND WISH THEM CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that the Calhoun County High School "Saints" recently captured the 2000-2001 Class AA State Basketball Championship; and

Whereas, this is the second consecutive year that the "Saints" have clinched the Class AA boys basketball title and their third championship in six years; and

Whereas, the "Saints" have compiled a superb record of 31-1 matching the school record win total of the 1996 championship team and their last two seasons have been incredible. These fine young men have won their thirty-eighth straight game against a Class AA opponent and twenty-second straight overall; and

Whereas, in addition to natural athletic ability and teamwork, skilled coaching and player dedication are also essential to winning, all of which was evident with the Calhoun County High School Boys Basketball team; and

Whereas, this impressive level of competition could not have been accomplished without the leadership and guidance of Head Coach Zam Fredrick and his assistant coaches; and

Whereas, the countless hours of practice, hard work, and sacrifices certainly reflect this superb basketball team's determination; and

Whereas, the students, parents, and school administration of Calhoun County High School have provided the support and encouragement necessary to achieve this highest level of consistency in boys basketball; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly commend these fine young men and especially Coach Zam Fredrick, along with his assistant coaches, on their team spirit, enthusiasm, and their extraordinary achievements. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to the Calhoun County High School "Saints" Boys Basketball Team and coaches for an exceptional season and on capturing the 2000-2001 Class AA State Basketball Championship and wish them continued success in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Calhoun County High School Boys Basketball Team and Head Coach Zam Fredrick.
