A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE MEMBERS AND PASTOR OF FAITH CATHEDRAL UPON LEARNING OF THE CHURCH'S DEDICATORY SERVICE HELD ON SUNDAY, APRIL 29, 2001.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly were filled with joy and praise upon learning that Look Up and Live Ministries held its Dedicatory Service of Faith Cathedral in its First Year Celebration held on Sunday, April 29, 2001, with the service led by Pastor and Founder, Bishop Ethel M. Talbert-Spearman, Presiding, Elder Charlie W. Spearman, and Jr. Bishop Roosevelt Moton, officiating

Whereas, Today's Faith Church was organized according to the will of The Lord in June 1975, by Evangelist Ethel M. Talbert-Spearman under Faith Bible Church, Inc., with the late Bishop Lewis T. Tait, Sr., serving as Presiding Bishop and the late Elder William G. Talbert, Sr., acting as Overseer; and

Whereas, the first blessed service at Today's Faith Church was held in a rented storefront building on Rutherford Road in Greenville, South Carolina, and the total membership at that time was two adults, one teenager, and three children; and

Whereas, Today's Faith Church, after eight months of ministry, moved to another storefront building at 404 Green Avenue and later to its first holy sanctuary at 11 Iola and Marion Streets in Greenville, South Carolina; and

Whereas, the membership and ministry continued to grow at Today's Faith Church and in 1983 the members, blessed by the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, obtained a house on Guess Street in Greenville, South Carolina, from which hot meals and clothes were distributed to those in need in the community, and though that building was vacated in 1983 because of zoning conflicts, it was replaced in 1984 and the Love Ministry continued its work at 200 Morris Street in Greenville; and

Whereas, Today's Faith Church, as part of God's plan for its growth and development, moved to the Morris Street location in 1985, giving the church classroom facilities, an outreach center for distribution of food and clothing, and a gymnasium named in loving memory of the Pastor's mother, the late Mother Fannie M. Talbert; and

Whereas, Today's Faith Church began its independent ministry, called Look Up and Live Ministries in 1989; and

Whereas, Today's Faith Church, through the steadfast faith and tireless efforts of its members, purchased land on United States Highway 25 for its new facilities in 1991, and Pastor Spearman started her Television Ministry shortly thereafter; in 1998 the property on Iola and Marion Streets was sold and the closing for construction of the new church facilities was completed in April of that year; in 1999 the name was officially changed to Faith Cathedral, and the Grand Opening Day Ceremony for the new facility was held on April 30, 2000; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were extremely pleased to learn that the congregation at Faith Cathedral, under the direction of Bishop Ethel M. Talbert-Spearman, held the Dedicatory Service in honor of the One Year Anniversary of the physical and spiritual creation of the new Faith Cathedral. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly, by this resolution, expresses the congratulations and best wishes of the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina to the members and Pastor of Faith Cathedral upon learning of the Church's Dedicatory Service held on Sunday, April 29, 2001.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Bishop Ethel M. Talbert-Spearman on behalf of the members of Faith Cathedral.
