A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE MEMBERS OF THE JEFFERSON DAVIS ACADEMY "LADY RAIDERS" BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACH ROBYNE JOYNER ON THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON AND CONGRATULATE THEM ON WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION REGION 1-A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE YEAR 2000-2001.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina are please to learn that the "Lady Raiders" of Jefferson Davis Academy won the 2000-2001 South Carolina Independent Schools Association Region 1-A State Basketball Championship this season; and

Whereas, the 2000-2001 basketball team finished with a record of twenty-five wins and only seven losses while en route to winning its third straight state championship. Additionally, the fine season ran Coach Robyne Joyner's career record to two hundred and ninety-eight wins and only seventy-two losses; and

Whereas, the members of the team, including Emily Dyches, Kacey Haralson, Alicia Bazemore, Rachel Dyches, Kelley Jeffcoat, Paula Cooper, Jessica Williams, Lauren Hall, Meg Owens, Victoria Williams, Cassie Still, and their coach Robyne Joyner, performed at a level all year that enable them to emerge from the regular season and the state playoffs victorious and as state champions; and

Whereas, the "Lady Raiders" of Jefferson Davis Academy have capped off an astounding run of three straight state basketball championships. It is most befitting that the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina pause in its deliberations to honor and commend the "Lady Raiders" on such an outstanding performance. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend the members of the Jefferson Davis Academy "Lady Raiders" basketball team and Coach Robyne Joyner on their outstanding season and congratulate them on winning the South Carolina Independent Schools Association Region 1-A State Championship for the year 2000-2001.
