TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE CHRIST CHURCH EPISCOPAL SCHOOL CAVALIERS BOYS' SOCCER TEAM OF GREENVILLE ON THEIR VICTORY OVER WILLISTON-ELKO HIGH SCHOOL TO CAPTURE THE CLASS A REGION II STATE SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP AND FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE IN AN UNDEFEATED SEASON.
Whereas, the Christ Church Episcopal School Cavaliers defeated Williston-Elko High School 9-1 to capture the Class A Region II Boys' State Soccer Championship; and
Whereas, the state crown capped a 2-1 win over Southside Christian in the Class A Upstate Championship and was the grand finale to an undefeated, never trailing Class A Season; and
Whereas, the Cavaliers had a superb season with six Class A wins for a total of fifteen wins during the Spring 2001 season against some of the toughest Class AAA and AAAA opponents in the State; and
Whereas, this fantastic soccer season was also a record-setting season establishing a new school record of 85 goals, with freshman Tomek Charowski scoring a school record of 33 goals, seven of them the winning point, and sophomore Scott Burgess setting a school record of 18 assists; and
Whereas, individual accolades also go to senior Brad Gower, sophomore Scott Burgess, and freshman Tomek Charowski for being selected for the All-State Soccer team; and
Whereas, the state trophy was the second state title to go to Coach David Wilcox in his second year as head coach of the team, coaching the Cavaliers to their second State Soccer Championship in school history; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives applauds the members of the Christ Church Episcopal School Boys' Soccer team and Head Coach David Wilcox on their superb season and excellent championship play. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the Christ Church Episcopal School Cavaliers Boys' Soccer Team of Greenville on their victory over Williston-Elko High School to capture the Class A Region II State Soccer Championship and for their outstanding performance in an undefeated season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Christ Church Episcopal School Boys' Soccer Team and Head Coach David Wilcox.
