A HOUSE RESOLUTION

JOINING THE CONGREGATION OF ANDREW CHAPEL BAPTIST CHURCH IN ORANGEBURG AND PASTOR D. E. GREENE, JR., IN CELEBRATION OF THE FIRST OFFICIAL WORSHIP SERVICE IN THEIR NEW CHURCH BUILDING ON SUNDAY, MAY 29, 2001.

Whereas, Andrew Chapel Baptist Church in Orangeburg began more than one hundred twenty years ago in a brush arbor; and

Whereas, on Sunday, May 29, 2001, the church celebrates its first official worship service in its new eighteen thousand plus square-foot building; and

Whereas, Pastor D. E. Greene, Jr., led the congregation in a twenty-four hour prayer and fasting vigil to dedicate the new building to God in gratitude for God's many blessings on the church and its members; and

Whereas, the building represents Andrew Chapel Baptist Church's growing mission in the Orangeburg community and in this State, including a comfortable nursery, closed-circuit television, state-of-the-art audio-visual department, and seating for seven hundred in the congregation and eighty in the choir; and

Whereas, additional plans for the thirty-three acre tract on Highway 301 North (Five Chop Road) include classrooms for Sunday School and Andrew Chapel Christian Academy and a fellowship hall. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved that the members of the House of Representatives do hereby join the congregation of Andrew Chapel Baptist Church in Orangeburg and Pastor D. E. Greene, Jr., in celebration of the first official worship service in their new church building on Sunday, May 29, 2001.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Pastor D. E. Greene, Jr.
