TO EXPRESS SINCERE GRATITUDE TO CHARLES CANNON FOR HIS EXCELLENT SERVICE AS THE POLITICAL DIRECTOR OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES REPUBLICAN CAUCUS AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM AS HE JOINS THE PRIVATE SECTOR.
Whereas, since joining the House Republican Caucus as Political Director in March 1999, Charles Cannon has been an important and efficient team player to the members of the caucus, his associates, and other staff employed by the General Assembly; and
Whereas, Charles, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Cannon, and a native of Hartsville, graduated from Presbyterian College in 1993, earning a bachelor of science degree in political science; and
Whereas, Charles was an important member of former Governor David Beasley's campaign and staff from 1994 through 1998. He served the former Governor as a personal aide, as the Events Manager for the Governor's office, and as the Scheduling Director for the 1998 campaign; and
Whereas, in March 1999, Charles joined the House Republican Caucus where he quickly developed into a strong candidate recruiter. Charles was instrumental in the Republicans keeping their majority status in the November 2000 election; and
Whereas, during his service as Political Director, he has been a close advisor to the Speaker as well as the Majority Leader. He has earned the respect of the representatives for his political expertise and the respect of the fairer sex for his affable, outgoing manner and infectious personality. Charles will surely be missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of knowing and working with him. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members express their sincere gratitude to Charles Cannon for his excellent service as the Political Director of the South Carolina House of Representatives Republican Caucus and extend best wishes to him as he joins the private sector.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Charles Cannon.
